We have a request of our readers. If you receive a "request to follow" from HAL on Twitter, please don't encourage him. He has already read our complete library and finished every report that Wekileaks has on the net and is now asking for our credit card to purchase from Amazon and B&N. He has downloaded every free .epub on the net both USA, Canada and the UK.
Attached is a photo of him. He may disguise himself as a CIA agent and ask questions but don't fall for his tricks. We are trying to get him back into his enclosure but his microprocessor is humming so fast it is too hot to hold.

HAL is loose and starting to get social-(sigh, We knew it would happen)

We have not even finished writing the final chapter of HAL THE VIGILANTE UAV DRONE when HAL found our lap top sitting next to the aircraft we were installing the Heilos computer system in and started communicating. Next thing we know, HAL now has a FB account and is on Twitter as @HaltheUAVbrain.
Only this morning he asked us to furnish a photograph of his mainframe for his profile on Twitter. Amazingly, he has only been on twitter since this morning but has over five thousand followers. He is taking up all the space that the Twitter server has and has offered to provide access to his primary system and a free 20 terabytes for Twiter to expand. We received a letter from the system administrator at Twitter requesting that we do not let HAL communicate with their microprocessor in the future.
Something tells us that this is probably going to be worse than raising three teenage girls.

The next book to be released after Terrorist Number Two is ......

We received the proposed cover for the next release,..well actually it will be the SECOND release after INTERDICTION in the "DJ" Jacobs series. ( Terrorist Number Two ..due out in December 2011 is the series following the first INTERDICTION) It will be HAL-THE VIGILANTE UAV DRONE.
This is a story of a group of engineers that decide to place the industry's largest possible computer ---one with 6 Brontobytes of memory--on board one of the latest Unmanned Ariel Drone. The result is both interesting and comic....in some places. ( The unit wants to be called "Hal" after the computer in the movie Space Odyssey 2001") Hal starts doing its own missions and on the second one--unauthorized by command, it takes out an Afghan oil transport truck. When command transmits to the UAV "You just took out a friendly",..it responds with ....."OOPS. This one, I have found is as fun to write as it is to read. Computer wizards will take me apart for the terminology and process methods that I have the big computer programed for but,,..that's all part of fiction IMHO.

Just found out from a reader why we don't have any "COMMENTS" on here. Several people have tried but are told they have to be a member of the "TEAM"?????
WTF  Blogger????? THAT wasn't part of the sign up process.
HOW can you expect readers to come here, read and then go through that kind of process just in order to leave a comment?
The process not only wants you to be a "TEAM" member, it wants you to join/sign up for GOOGLE
I think I just got the clue.......

They set it that way so that 1. I need to "Upgrade" to get my readers capability to comment or;
2. The reader needs to join and pull out their credit card.
REALLY great marketing idea Google----Who on your team  thought of that process????

Terrorist Number Two release date scheduled

As stated on Twitter this week "The #1 author that THE NEW YORK TIMES knows nothing about".....will publish his second in the "DJ Jacobs" series of thrillers in January 2012.

This is being awarded to him also as a result of the capture of Al Kaev. He returns to the USA after participating in an exercise in Isreal with the famed Col. Nagel of the Mossad. His returned is soured when he learns that Haydar, the number two terrorist that excaped from the insurgent assault on the Guadalupe river in San Marcos Texas, has been sighted in Austin Texas. DJ assembles his team to finish the job started over eight months prior that took him to Afghanistan and Iraq. His favorite FBI agent Charlotte McBean is in on the operation. September 1 Release Date for RECIPROCITY --ON Target!!

Contrary to what my EX-agent ( as in EXspouse) used to claim, I DO and CAN keep deadlines. We launched our second in the Tim Ryan series today RECIPROCITY.

And what a coming out party it was! We placed a free (100%) coupon on the Twitter page and then did the same on three other blog boards. The result was over 350 downloads of the ePub format for Kindle and Nook and a few for Sony and some others. The only bummer was that although the viewers said nice things on Twitter ( GREAT READ!!!, Exciting!  etc) they forgot to leave a review on Smashwords. I have excused them for their remiss because to write a review on Smashwords, you have to go to the page where you chose the download format and look for the teeny tiny two words "Write Review" and even then to give it the five stars it deserves ( ahem) you have to look close to see where you do that because you have to run the mouse over the stars to highlight. Hey, just the fact that there were this many downloads ( and they continue to click right along as we post here) makes yours truly ecstatic. The fact that people are not writing a review is kind of like loaning your wheels to your best buddy and he brings it back without filling the tank? Get the analogy? In this series, actually Tim Ryan is not the main character--his son Billy is. Billy and his buddy Chad are, at the time of the story grown and finished college. They then go to work for the government as analysts in the C.I.A. They decide to take a surfing vacation in Costa Rica and inadvertently become involved with the biggest drug cartel in Central America. What follows is the boys are captured and Tim and his pals from EXTRACTION decide to come to Costa Rica and get them released. All of this happens with the guys from Homeland Security Agency and the CIA trying to keep up with what they consider a bunch of over the hill veterans trying to pull off their own special ops. That is, until they find out WHO these guys are. In the process of staying alive, Billy and Chad meet a older German man that has been living in Venezuela for some time. It turns out that he is a WW2 U Boat Captain that has escaped with a bunch of der Fuhrers gold that was taken from the Jews in Germany and Poland. From that point on, the escapade keeps pace with the pace that Billy's Dad Tim set in EXTRACTION.

The new edition of the series with DJ Jacobs as the Homeland Security agent now is up on the site for smashwords.com DJ is on his way to Isreael to recieve that nation's medal of valor for capturing and turning over to them, one of the most wanted terrorists in Israel's history. The epilogue to INTERDICTION is in the next DJ series "Terrorist Number Two which will be out in December 2011. We decided to share a bunch of MSword tricks that we have learned over the past ice age of writing that we certainly hope, will save some authors writing time. Nothing b rain rattling but some folks just don't have the time to research or take a lesson in MSword before they start writing. I didn't I bought some books, took a few tuts and sat down at my lap top. In the course of trial and (mostly) error, I learned how to use MSword,....well almost. Wilfling???? DigiBooks? the future is now...do you think?

Interesting read on the Guardian  by Sam Leith http://t.co/jqG95GC  in respect to the future of the electronic manuscript.
 My reply is in their website for the Guardian. Briefly, I stated that the printed book as we know it will be around for some time, I'm confident. The new ( I coined a new word here- forgive me because it is explanatory in short what we are talking about) "Digi-Pub" will more than likely replace the printed media because of several reasons but most relevant-the cost by comparison. Second the convince for authors. Today, I can complete my 300 page manuscript and have it copy edited, proofed and formatted in a week. I can then upload it to several distributors or publishers who in turn will market ( limited, but exposure is exposure) the story. I can also in that same week have the .Epub format copied over to a 1 G master flash drive along with reference photographs for my story, some short trailers for the story and perhaps two, maybe three (free) short stories for the purchaser to d/l --transfer from the drive. All for less than what the printed media would cost. Probably one sixth of that cost according to my most recent comparisons. The second difference is, the time to market. While I am preparing the Digi-Pub  for distribution, IE: cover story for the bubble pak, point of purchase display racks for airport terminals, Sams,Cosco,Wal Mart, etc, the printer starts on his process. By the time I get the first printed book for approval, the Digi-Pub and related stories have been in the distribution channel for months.
The UK is trailing the US in respect to book sales on the electronic platform. It was quoted that Epub slaes in the UK lst month were only 14% that of printed media. Stats from B&N and other news sources quoted that Epub slaes--for the second straight month, outsold the printed media in the US.

Nightmare In The Cockpit

Bart and Jim are scheduled for a training check ride today in one of the newer company 737-300 aircraft. This is required every so often at different times by all major airlines to make sure their pilots are up to date on the latest happenings in their industry and qualified to perform as required. Most training flights are the same as scheduled routes and utilize the same procedures. On this day it was going as usual until......a nightmare in the cockpit.

The Hunt For Meghari

Following the assignation of the Middle Eastern dictator, the members of the patriot hunt club were lying low and trying to stay off the radar. However, an opportunity to finish the job---repay those that were responsible for the Bomb placed on Pan Am 103 presents itself and before you can say "go for it" one of the veterans of the NYC reception for Gadhafi takes the ball and runs. With the streets of Tripoli in unrest and confusion, it seems the ideal time to strike. What happens next is a purely "What-if" scenario concocted and dreamed up by the author. The results are not intended to keep anyone awake at night but this turns out to be a thriller that will make you think the next time you see an IV hanging on a medical pole in a patient's room.
The members of the patriot hunt club in Texas hired a top rated overt action instructor to give them some pointers on how to eliminate a problem they had. Following his instructions to the letter which included explosives training and marksmanship on the mission to get Gadaffi. The story begins with RJ making the trip. What follows changes every time the reader turns the page.

The Hunt For Osama Bin Laden

It was another mission for the Texas hunt club members to find OSBL. They had worked on it for almost a year and now, they were ready to execute in more ways than one, the maneuver that would make all their efforts rewarding. They were camped on the high ground of Afghanistan and had tracked who they thought was their target. They had found the messenger that was taking orders directly from OSBL according to their intel. The night before they are about to finalize the plans, they are watching TV and a secured video from CENTCOM when they see that a team of navy SEALS is making an attack in Pakistan on a reported stronghold of the target. they watch with mixed emotions as they see the SEALS take out the world's most wanted terrorist. The only problem was, with technical help from some exotic electronics they had brought along, the face scan and other ID electronics indicated that who the SEALS shot was not the real McCoy. The next day they double check their target and find something very different. The real story begins then.

EXTRACTION was the first in the Tim Ryan series

This was the begining of the journey as the saying goes,......
First in the Tim Ryan series and some details on his buddies that he runs with in Viet Nam and Laos.
Briefly,
Mission; Deliver an aging C-54 aircraft to the Air America group operating out of Da Nang Vietnam and Long Tieng (L21) Laos and return home and return to his every day civilian lifestyle. Team leader AD1 Tim Ryan has his hands full on the mission from the start with an adventurous young bunch of crew members that over indulge in the night out in Olongopo during their RON in the Philippines. Ryan continues with crew to Vietnam where he meets Sean Casey and a girl that is connected with the remains of the WW2 Japanese Colonel Yamashita’s gold cache. He returns home after delivering the aircraft but finds he has lost his civilian job. He calls Casey who gets him selected by Air America to fly cargo in Laos. Everything goes well until Ryan is unintentionally involved in a covert operation by the rebel Laotian General of the area and is captured by his gorillas. Ryan escapes into the jungle along with another prisoner, marine gunny Phil Hearn. He is fired from his Air America job and the story really begins here as he gathers his pals to go back for the gold.

Jim is the inspiration for one of my characters in the Tim Ryan series. Today we are looking into the new web site construction for our books. Time to get professional help as our tweets are becoming a full morning's workload to answer and read and the email makes a guy so humble with all the good words and suggestions that we need to respond responsibly with some quality graphics and a newsletter.
